Man's fits of rage led to fines

AN intellectually impaired man has been ordered to pay compensation to a Disability Services Queensland carer he assaulted in a rage.

Corey Peter McDonald yelled abuse, bounced family support worker Sharon Donahue's back with his chest and hit her across the head with his elbow after she challenged the amount of food he was eating in late January, 2008, at a facility in Stanwell.

Days earlier, he had rained multiple closed-fist blows to the head of Tony White, a person with a disability at the home when they clashed over money that was owing for a PlayStation.

For the assault on Ms Donahue, McDonald was sentenced to a month in jail wholly suspended for 18 months.

For assaulting Mr White, he was convicted and fined $500 and ordered to pay $300 compensation, with 34 hours of unpaid community service.
