Mason's set to be in the mix again in Round 2

TRIATHLON: Mason Hebbard and Scott Kean are expected to battle it out for honours in Round 2 of the Tsuruya Japanese Restaurant Triathlon Series at the Capricorn Resort.

The duo filled the top two placings in the series opener a month ago and Frenchville Frogs Triathlon Club president Wayne Clifford is expecting a similar result on Sunday.

"They were our top two last time and I suspect they will be the leaders again this time around,” he said.

"The women's race will be interesting. Victoria Gillies was the winner in Round 1 and I believe it will be her race to win on Sunday.

"But I do expect Kellie Langley and Rochelle Stenhouse to be in the mix as well as they warm into the race season.”

Clifford is expecting about 100 competitors to take part in the long and short course triathlons and duathlons and the 5km run.

The series will be run over five rounds. Rounds 3 and 4 will be held at the Capricorn Resort in February and March, with the final round at Tannum Sands in April.

Registration opens at 6am Sunday, with racing from 7am.
