Massive amount of stolen gear found in police grab

Moranbah Detectives have recovered a significant amount of alleged stolen property as part of an ongoing property crime investigation in the western divisions of Mackay.

The investigation has led to the recovery of an all-terrain vehicle, boat and a camper trailer. Some property recovered had been allegedly stolen dating back to 2012 and some within the past week. All property had been less than two years old when stolen.

The investigation has uncovered the re-birthing of stolen property as well as alleged re-registering, police said.

Plain clothes senior Constable Eddy Rogers said police will allege a network of criminals had been operating in Nebo and the surrounding divisions, for some time.

"It appears the network had been allegedly targeting new high end property items for their own use and also to be on sold on the black market," Plain Clothes Senior Constable Rogers said.

A 21-year-old Nebo man has been arrested and charged with Enter Premises and Commit, Possessing Tainted Property, two counts of possessing dangerous drugs, Possessing anything used in the commission, possess property suspected of having been acquired for committing a drug offence and possessing drug utensils.

He is due to appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court on June 12.

A 34-year-old Nebo man has been arrested and charged with Enter Premise with Intent, Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle, Stealing Property of Value Exceeding $5000, Unlawful Use of a Vessel and Stealing.

He is due to appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court on June 12.

The investigation is currently ongoing.

Advice to rural property owners is that if people want to store items on your property and you suspect the items may be stolen, to contact police.

The last thing innocent people need is stolen property to be found by police in their possession. In small communities this can give innocent people a bad name regardless of whether charges are preferred against them.
