MasterChef star visits CQUniversity

CQUNIVERSITY Rockhampton cooked up some great inspiration today by bringing last year's MasterChef Australia runner-up Laura Cassai to class.

The university invited Laura to inspire other aspiring chefs to reach their goals and present a series of free cooking demonstrations at Willby's Training Restaurant at the Rockhampton City campus.

She was met my a room full of friendly faces eager to learn more culinary skills.

Laura said working with CQUniversity was an obvious fit for her first trip to Central Queensland.

"I was studying an education degree before I got into MasterChef, and I still love teaching people and inspiring people so I'm really excited to meet all the CQUniversity students who are on their way to becoming chefs, and creating careers in hospitality," she said.

Now working her way up from a Junior Chef role at Jock Zonfrillo's Restaurant Orana in Adelaide, the 20-year-old is also promoting her first cookbook, My Italian Kitchen.

Laura will also present two sessions at Theatre K at CQUniversity Mackay City, on Thursday, June 4.
