Jessica Mauboy to light up Rockhampton tonight

THEY may be two years apart, but Ella Giles, 8 and Indiana Dunnett 6 are the best of friends.

The girls share a love of dance class, music and all things Jessica Mauboy, so it's a dream come true tonight when they get to see their favourite performer, live on stage at The Pilbeam.

"She's a great singer, she's really cool," Ella said.

Ella and Indi were both three-years-old when they began dance classes and at their ripe old ages, are already choreographing routines to Jess' music and performing in the Rockhampton Dance Festival.

While Indi has been to Sydney to see One Direction and Ella is off to Brisbane to see Taylor Swift, there's been nothing more exciting than having their favourite, Jess Mauboy, come to their home town.

According to Indi's mum, the young singer from Darwin, has shown a generation that you don't have to be from Sydney or New York to follow your dream and succeed.

Jessica Mauboy, 24, has a Timorese father and Aboriginal mother. She rose to fame as a runner up on Australian Idol.
