Mayor clears Cr O'Brien

COUNCILLOR Sandra O'Brien has been cleared of inappropriate conduct after an investigation by the Mayor, Brad Carter.

The Mayor said yesterday that he had dealt with a complaint from Kevy Lemberg, of Struck Oil, and deemed it to be "insignificant".

Mr Lemberg lodged an official complaint that Cr O'Brien had acted inappropriately when she published a private email sent to Mr Lemberg by the council's chief executive, Evan Pardon.

His complaint was that Cr O'Brien sent the email to the 4RO talk show host Michael J Bailey and it contained information that was intended only for him.

Mr Lemberg says he is also preparing a legal case for defamation against the veteran councillor in relation to comments she made about him on air which he maintains have lowered his reputation and cast doubt about his character.

Cr Carter said yesterday that correspondence was being forwarded to Mr Lemberg to explain his decision.

He said that after considering the facts and interviewing Cr O'Brien, he accepted that there was no ill intention on her part.

But Mr Lemberg was determined to take his claims to court.
