Shadow Minister calls for surgery guarantee at Rocky

THE Shadow Minister for Health stopped in at Rockhampton Hospital yesterday as part of a three-day tour in Central Queensland.

Mark McArdle was focused on elective surgery waiting times.

"I want to make it clear we are committed to making certain we have an elective on-surgery guarantee," Mr McArdle said. "We're saying to the State Government to get the surgery on-time guarantee in place now."

Meanwhile, Health Minister Cameron Dick said Mr McArdle's claim that only the previous government's wait time program could deliver people their elective surgery was wrong.

He said the Palaszczuk government had moved to cut waiting lists by putting $30 million into more scheduled operations and another $30 million towards ear, nose and throat operations, where there had been a particular backlog.
