Messi fit to face Celtic in Champions League after illness

FOOTBALL: Lionel Messi is set to take his place in the Barcelona side to face Celtic in the UEFA Champions League tomorrow morning (5.45am AEST) after recovering from a stomach bug that kept him out of last weekend's La Liga clash with Malaga.

The Argentine superstar trained on Monday and is expected to line up alongside Uruguay forward Luis Suarez, who returns after being suspended for the game against Malaga, and Brazilian Neymar in Glasgow.

Victory for Barca against Celtic will be enough for it to qualify for the last 16, while Celtic and hope other results go its way to keep its slim hopes of pregression alive.

Group C rival Manchester City will also qualify for the knockout stage if it beats Borussia Monchengladbach in Germany.

Elsewhere, Arsenal hosts Paris Saint-Germain, with the winner to top Group A. Both sides have already qualified for the last 16.
