Miner's arm trapped in door

A MINER was airlifted to hospital this morning after an accident underground at the Grasstree Mine near Middlemount.

Phil Dowler of the RACQ CQ Rescue Helicopter service said a 56-year-old man suffered a fractured arm when it was trapped in a ventilation door.

A first aid crew from the mine treated the worker before Queensland Ambulance paramedics arrived.

He was stabilised before he was taken by helicopter to Mackay Base Hospital where his condition is described as serious but stable.
