Mining workers tested

QUEENSLAND mines inspectors and emergency services workers were tested in an emergency response exercise at Caledon Resources’ Cook Colliery underground coal mine yesterday, near Blackwater, west of Rockhampton.

The Queensland Commissioner for Mine Safety and Health, Stewart Bell, said the exercise was designed to test the response capabilities of mine staff and emergency services to a major incident.
