Mixed market at Warwick Cattle Sale

NUMBERS reduced for the second last sale for the year.  

The usual panel of buyers was present and operating across all classes.  

There was a wide variation in the quality of the young cattle and a short supply of bullocks were penned along with a fair sample of cows.

Restockers were very active on light weight young cattle.

Feeder operators and the trade provided very strong support on medium and heavy weight yearling steers and heifers with heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaging 8c/kg dearer.

Most of the export slaughter classes could not maintain the prices of the previous week and a small sample of bullocks loss 14c/kg.  

Medium weight plain condition cows sold to a firm market however the better end of the cows lost 2c to 9c/kg.  

Steer calves to restockers made to 404.2c to average 372c/kg.  

Vealer heifers to local butchers made to 334.2c and feeder classes averaged 319c/kg.  

Lightweight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 331c and made to 351c/kg.  

Medium weights to feed averaged 338c and made to 353.2c/kg.  

Heavyweights to feed mostly sold around 337c with some to 343.2c/kg.  

Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 340c to average 328c and local trade lines improved 5c to average 324c with sales to 338.2c/kg.  

The small sample of bullocks made to 296.2c/kg.  

Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 220c and made to 230.2c/kg.  

Good heavy cows made to an isolated 269.2c to average 258c/kg.  

Heavy bulls made to 259.2c/kg.
