Molasses truck crash on Peak Downs Hwy causes more traffic delays

UPDATE 3.22pm: The highway is expected to be closed for an hour while clean up occurs.

UPDATE 1.40pm: POLICE are urging drivers to avoid the westbound lane of the Peak Downs Hwy about 3km west of the Blue Mountain Rd intersection after a B-double carrying molasses rolled about 1.20pm.

No one is believed to have been injured.

The crash has compouned traffic delays caused by an earlier incident on the highway in which a truck lost its load on Eton Range.

UPDATE 1pm: A TRUCK has lost part of its load on the Peak Downs Hwy, causing delays for motorists.

A Queensland Police spokesperson said they received a call that a truck had lost part of its load at the top of Eton Range about 11am.

The spokesperson said one lane was completely blocked and that was causing delays.

INITIAL: A single-vehicle crash on the Peak Downs Highway has affected all lanes.

According to the Department of Transport and Main Roads, all lanes on the highway have been affected with a single-vehicle crash at the top of the Eton Range.

The department said that motorists using the route should expect delays while emergency crews clear the road.

The vehicle was heading south towards Epsom.

The alert was issued at 11.57am on Monday.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said there was no response to the incident from paramedics.
