CCTV appears to shows one man distracting the elderly victim while his accomplice swipes her wallet, reports The Sun.

As her back is turned the thief dives into her bag and spends around eight seconds rooting around before pulling out the purse.

She is distracted by a bald man with glasses talking to her about groceries in Oswestry, Shrops.

The brazen thief checks the contents of the wallet before pocketing it and walking off.

Police are hunting the suspects, who were described as Eastern European and in their 40s, the Shropshire Star reports.

Hundreds of pounds have been raised for the elderly victim since the footage was released by West Mercia Police and shared on Facebook.

Amanda Williams launched the crowd-funding page after the footage made her "mad".

She told the Shropshire Star: "I was watching the video and it really upset me as this could have been a family member of mine, it could be anyone's mum or nan.

"Everyone was commenting on how bad it was on Facebook so I just decided I wanted to do something to help."

Scores of people have taken to social media to share the footage which has been viewed more than 300,000 times.

Rita Lamey wrote: "This poor lady is even chatting to one of these disgusting b******* and this makes me cry both with anger and shame."

One man is said to have short hair and was wearing a blue jacket while the other was bald with glasses and wearing a black jacket.
