Monster from the deep: Angler lands metre-long cod

LESLIE Dam has been the talk of the Darling Downs this week after one lucky angler landed a metre long murray cod.
Dawaine Joanknecht caught the cod on Monday morning using a TN/60 Jackall lure in what I believe to be colour SC black red.
It happened while Dawaine was simply trolling the hard vibe up the centre of the lake towards the dam wall end.
It goes to show big fish don't always eat big lures.
FISHING AND CAMPING COMES ALIVE

Catching big barra is child's play for toddler
Also this particular lure at a troll would only be down 6-8ft so the cod was feeding up pretty high in the water column which is usually against our thought process to target cod.
Just shows that you have to be mixing it up all the time to catch the big ones.
Fishing is so unpredictable so trying new things is always good. No matter how unlikely it seems, sometimes it will pay off.
