Massive bushfire destroys 70 homes, kills two

MORE than 70 homes have been destroyed by the massive bushfire that has killed two people and injured 19 others in South Australia's mid-north.

The Country Fire Service announced yesterday that 75% of the "Pinery Fire" had been contained and there had been no increase in the fire area in the past 24 hours.

The fire has burnt 82,600ha and has a 265km perimeter.

Among the livestock killed were 500 pigs at a piggery and 51,000 chickens at another property.
