Mother and child escape injury after Bruce Hwy crash

A MOTHER and her child were lucky to escape without injures after her sedan was involved in an accident with a semi-trailer.

Just before 1.30pm the accident occurred around 20km south of Rockhampton on the Bruce Highway, around 500 metres north of Mogilno Rd.

Debris littered the road around the accident scene, and several cars stopped to help the occupants.

Police Media reported the sedan appeared to have tried overtaking the truck and collided with a vehicle.

It is believed police were also searching for a grey or brown 4WD vehicle which they thought might have been involved.

The woman and her child were taken to Rockhampton Hospital as a precaution, with minor injuries.

The northbound lane was temporary closed.

Forensic teams will attend to determine the cause of the crash.
