Mother-of-three raises $3000 for Leukaemia Foundation
THERE was no need to think twice for Yeppoon's Rachel Woodward-Cowley when it came to shaving her head recently.
But it was for a very personal reason close to her heart, after her mum had been diagnosed with stage three non-Hodgkin lymphoma last month.
Having already raised more than $3000 for the Leukaemia Foundation in just a matter of weeks, the mother-of-three said she wanted to give something back to the cause.
"When we were down at the Wesley Hospital when mum was having her treatment, the nurses and staff was absolutely amazing, they took so much care of her," Rachel told the Capricorn Coast Mirror.
"Mum's been really good, she's been so positive. And she decided to get all of her hair cut off before it starts to fall out so I decided to do the same, just so she feels like she's not alone."
Rachel, who's hair was cut by Aimee from Hair Mekka recently said she'd been overwhelmed by the amount of support she'd received from family and friends. "I've been so humbled and blown away by it," she said.
"It was just through Facebook mostly that I put the word out to raise money. But I feel really excited to get my head shaved."
