Motorcyclist dies despite mercy chopper dash to hospital

A MOTORCYCLE rider has died after a crash west of the Sunshine Coast on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said that at about 4.10pm, the man riding a motorbike north along Kilcoy-Beerwah Road collided with a vehicle at the intersection with Woodrow Road.

The 19-year-old rider received life-threatening injuries as the result of the crash.

He was taken by rescue helicopter to the Royal Brisbane and Womens Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
