A PREGNANT woman who slipped and fell on her stomach on a public street has thanked a good Samaritan who stopped to help her.

Steph Wise was walking home from a friend's house after storms about 8pm Monday when she fell.

"I leant backwards and fell forwards and fell directly onto my stomach, I was upset and crying," she said.

She ended up in a bad way and was physically ill, barely conscious after a knock to the head.

The expecting mother was passed by several motorists who simply slowed down and stared, but did nothing to help.

Finally a woman stopped and offered some support.

"She ran over and got blankets out of her car and waited with me until the ambulance arrived," Ms Wise said.

"I have no idea who she is.

"I guess good people do exist. It was pretty sad that several people drove slowly past staring at me while I was out of it and laying in my own vomit."

She has a message for her mystery helper.

"I really want to thank the woman who helped, because I didn't get a chance to say thank you," she said.

Fortunately Ms Wise and her unborn baby have been given the all clear by doctors.

She said it was sad that no one else had offered to help.

"Some people may have thought I was a drug addict or drunk, but it's not that hard to pull over and wind down the window," Ms Wise said.

"It's upsetting that so many people drove past and didn't help."
