Revenge attack goes too far

REVENGE cost a woman $1250 in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court.

But the fine imposed on Cassandra Dale Amenelle Hixson was nothing compared to the vicious assault she unleashed on a woman outside the Railway Hotel in Mount Morgan on July 3.

The 26-year-old mother-of-one pleaded guilty in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Friday to pushing the woman to the ground and punching her four times to the right side of her face.

Police prosecutor Matthew Heelan said Hixson's cowering victim did not fight back and received a black eye, a cut above her right eye and bruising to her back and chest.

Hixson's lawyer Shayne Studdert said his client was provoked after the woman jammed a pool cue into the groin of Hixson's de facto partner.

The court heard Hixson had a history of violence and had already been charged with a common assault earlier this year.

Mr Heelan asked Magistrate Tom Bradshaw to ban Hixson from all licensed premises in the area for one year.

Mr Bradshaw told Hixson: “you have overreacted... you have gone too far” and ordered she pay a $750 fine and $500 in compensation to her victim, but did not issue a ban.
