Move over Thermomix, there's another gadget creating a storm

The Thermomix has a new rival in Australia
The Thermomix has a new rival in Australia

AUSTRALIANS have gone mad about all things cooking thanks to reality TV shows such as My Kitchen Rules and Masterchef.

Not only have they gone mad over trying new recipes, foods and techniques, but they have gone gadget mad including the Thermomix.

In the past couple of weeks, there have been numerous articles on people's experiences with Thermomixes, some outlining what has gone wrong due to human error and left nasty burns and big messes, but most owners of a Thermomix still praise the gadget highly.

But wait....

There looks to be another gadget on the market that could surpass the hype around the Thermomix.

Meet the Magimix Cook Expert.

This appliance is new to the Australian market (this year) and apparently can do just about everything - food processing, juicing, whisk, steam, blend, puree, mix, dough, chop, slice, grate, mince and much more. And it cleans itself.

My Kitchen Rules judge Colin Fassnidge, in an article in Delicious magazine, gave the Magimix the thumbs up.

"It's faster and more cost effective than making a kitchen hand stand at a bench all day," he said.

Fassnidgeo has one in the kitchen at his Sydney restaurant 4Fourteen.

"I can just pop all the ingredients in and get the job done without killing the kid."

Anna Webster compared the Thermomix to the Magimix and other such appliances on the market in the Good Food magazine.

The only criticism she had of the Magimix was that you can't do everything in one bowl with this appliance, while her criticism of the Thermomix was that you can't do small amounts of food.
