Move sparks a change in outlook in more ways than one
THE best part of having a few 'down' days is you really appreciate the 'up' ones.
The clouds have departed from my depressed outlook last week even though the sun may not be shining outside.
Why, you may ask?
This week has brought about lots of change in my life so I have lots of nice, shiny, bright new things to play with.
I think I embrace change more than a lot of people do.
I'm excited about technology and I'm eager to learn new things…. most of the time.
This week's changes have not only had an effect on me, but also my co-workers.
You see, our office has moved buildings.
My nice, shiny, new things include a new desk, new chair, and even a lift to get into the building.
While I have fond memories of the old building, old is definitely the best description of it.
While our new building might technically not be new, it is much more modern, so much brighter and way more colourful than what we are used to.
It is so bright in there, some have even complained how bright it has been.
That is what happens when you live in the dark for so long.
Sometimes you have to squint your eyes for a while until you adjust to your new surroundings.
Some of us will be squinting for a lot longer than other, I'm sure, but eventually we will all come to appreciate our new home away from home.
After all, when the pity party is over, it is time for the fun party.
While my kids thinks a party means balloons and cake, and I'm sure more than a few co-workers think a party must include a celebratory drink or two, I will stick to my own tradition (yeah, yeah, ok, I don't always like change) and look for the nearest chocolate.
Another thing that doesn't change for me from a down or up day is my support of all things Cadbury.
In fact, I would probably be more likely to indulge in the golden goodness when the only way is up.
Up, off the couch, and over to the find the fruit-and-nut hidden at the back of the vegetable crisper.
On an 'up' day, I swear, the chocolate tastes even sweeter.
