Murder accused remanded in custody

THERE was a heavy police presence as the man accused of the murder of 24-year-old Bundaberg man Landon Delinecort was listed to appear in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court.

Luke Michael Turnbull, 35, was charged with three counts following Friday night's alleged stabbing, one of murder, one of grievous bodily harm and one of acts intended to main/disfigure/disable.

On Tuesday morning, six uniformed police officers stood guard as visitors to the court house passed through a walk-through metal detector while five detectives sat in the back of the court room as the matter was mentioned.

Despite the extra security measures Turnbull did not appear as his defence lawyer Matt Maloy made no application for bail.

Police Prosecutor Acting Senior Constable Andrew Blunt asked for a three month ajournement due to the complex nature of the case and the significant amount of forensic evidence.

Turnbull was remanded in custody and the matter was adjourned until February 18 next year for a committal mention.
