GALLERY: Carols at the Music Bowl a hit with families

EGAN Cass is eagerly counting down the days until Santa arrives and there was no better way to get into the festive spirit than a night of carols at the Rockhampton Music Bowl.

Egan's mum Kay said the family had planned to go to the Rockhampton Christmas Carols last week, when the event was rained out.

The Music Bowl was the site of Carols by Candlelight up until 2011, back when it was run by a community group.

But in 2012 council created a committee specifically to investigate other sites for the carols, after concerns the Music Bowl was structurally unsound.

Kay said the atmosphere at the Music Bowl was great and she would love to see more events there in the future.

"It was just so spacious," she said.

"Everyone had blankets. The markets there were really good. I think it was a really good set up."

Kay said Egan and Jai both enjoyed the carols, with popular song choices.

"I thought the song choices were really good," she said.

"They seemed to be the well-known carols."
