Singer Wendy Matthews includes Yeppoon in six-concert tour
From The Capricorn Coast Mirror
KEPPEL Coast Arts, with the help of Capricorn Coast singing sensation and event producer Kate Leahy, has pulled off a major win for the region as Kate gets set to tour CQ with multi award-winning singer Wendy Matthews.
The pair will entertain with six concerts across the region and all funds from ticket sales will be donated back to Keppel Coast Arts.
Kate said she was thrilled to be taking the stage with Wendy, of whom she has been a big fan since she was just a child.
"To work with Wendy is really something special for me," Kate said.
"Wendy will be bringing her long-time keyboard player and a lead guitarist with her. She will also be joined on stage by some talented local musicians.
"I am so proud of our local musicians. We have an enormous amount of talent here and to be able to give them this opportunity to play with Wendy is just amazing."
While the tour is great news for Central Queensland, in each town before the show Wendy and Kate will also give a talk on how they have achieved their successes, sharing insights into the music industry.
Kate said she had convinced Wendy to give up some of her secrets, which is pretty special as secrets are often heavily guarded within the industry.
"There will also be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a handful of our local musicians," Kate said.
"One person or group from each town will be chosen to perform a song with Wendy Matthews as part of each of her concerts.''
All announcements about shows, music industry talks and how to perform with Wendy will be made on Facebook, via Kate Leahy's music page.

The project is jointly funded by the Queensland Government, Livingstone Shire Council and the Australian Government through the Australian Council for the Arts.
