Mystery mayday signal has crews in search for boat

EMERGENCY crews are searching the coast of Bundaberg following a mysterious mayday signal earlier in the day.

A Volunteer Marine Rescue (VMR) spokesman said there was no information attached to the signal.

A helicopter and VMR crews have been performing searches.

No further information is available at this time.

The incident follows the case of a missing fishing trawler that departed Urangan on November 11 travelled east through Breaksea Spit before communications ceased the following morning.

The trawler did not dock at its scheduled Sunshine Coast location on November 18, and there has been no sign of the three crew members.
