National marriage equality lobby group visiting CQ in July

A NATIONAL organisation will visit Rockhampton next month to help lobby for marriage equality.

Christie Green-Williams, President of Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays Central Queensland (PFLAG Central Queensland), said the event which will run from July 10 and 12 will also focus on education.

PFLAG Central Queensland is a support group for family and friends of gays, lesbians and those identifying as transgender.

Australian Marriage Equality is the nation's leading organisation lobbying for marriage equality.

Ms Green-Williams said there would be a Q&A-style forum on July 10, public workshops open to any questions on July 11 and a public postcard writing campaign on July 12.

The postcard writing campaign will aim to show support for marriage equality to Capricornia MP Michelle Landry, who has said she does not support changes to the Marriage Act.

For more information or to volunteer at the events connect with PFLAG Central Queensland on Facebook.
