LATEST: LYN Saxton woke up to the sound of tyres screeching near her Point Arkwright, Yaroomba home about 6.30  this morning.

Ms Saxton initially thought it was hoons, which she said was highly unusual for her quite suburb.

When she heard the sirens, she realised it was an accident.

But only hours later did the details of what happened start to emerge.

It's understood a  car had been reversing out of its Neurum Rd driveway and nearly ended up going over a cliff.

The Queensland Ambulance Service said paramedics found the car balancing on the edge of a cliff, the driver still inside.

Ms Saxton, like some others who live in Coolum, remain puzzled where in Neurum Rd the accident could have occurred as there weren't many cliff points.

Thankfully emergency crews were able to rescue the occupant of the car without a hiccup.

And an hour later any evidence of danger was non-existent as the Daily was able to drive along the street and neighbouring streets without a hiccup.

INITIAL REPORT: REPORTS a car had reversed out of a driveway and over a cliff at Point Arkwright this morning had emergency services tense.

After arriving on Neurum Rd just after 7am, a spokeswoman for Queensland Ambulance Service said paramedics found a car balancing on the edge of a cliff, the driver still inside.

Queensland Fire and Emergency crews stabilised the vehicle and paramedics were able to safely remove the driver from the vehicle.

No one was injured.
