New bub for Rocky's most romantic

AFTER a surprise proposal that left his new wife in tears, Rockhampton romantic Michael Newman is now the proud dad of a baby boy.

Little Ryan Patrick Newman was born on January 7 after Michael’s wife Zoe went through an exhausting 20-hour labour.

Michael set hearts throbbing when he surprised Zoe as he popped the boot to the new family car which was set up with roses, a teddy, the words “will you marry me Zoe” and romantic music playing as he got down on one knee.

Michael proposed to Zoe on August 31 last year when she was five months pregnant.

The proud dad yesterday said despite having many sleepless nights, he was getting used to his new role.

“I took a week off work (as a security guard) to be with Zoe and Patrick, but I got back into it last Thursday,” Michael said.

“I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead of us.”

And although the newly-weds weren’t able to do much besides wining and dining during their honeymoon at the Gold Coast last year, they were saving for a proper holiday for when Patrick turns one.

“We’re thinking about going on a boat cruise or somewhere overseas,” Michael said.

Ryan weighed 3125 grams after a natural birth.

“Zoe was rushed to hospital for a caesarean to start with because bub’s heart rate was up and down, but she ended up fully dilating so Zoe delivered naturally in the end,” Michael said.
