New Coast real estate launching
YEPPOON businessman Barry Vale is taking his faith in the Capricorn Coast to the next level by letting go of his franchise with LJ Hooker to create a more localised and personal touch with his own branding, @ The Beach Real Estate.
Barry said he and wife Lynelle knew it was time for change and made the decision to convert their business without hesitation.
"LJ Hooker have been fabulous but we wanted to be identified as a Capricorn Coast business, located on the coast and run by locals,” Barry said.
"We believe there will be many changes in the real estate industry over the next couple of years and want to be able to bring the latest technologies to our clients, both buyers and sellers.
"We are devoted to this region and our community and want to offer our own localised and personalised touch to what we do, and our staff feel exactly the same.”
It wasn't a case of love at first sight when Barry first came to Yeppoon back in 1976, when he was a chef with the air force and participating in exercise Kangaroo2.
"I came into Yeppoon on a day off and the southeasterly was blowing up something shocking. It was dismal and I just didn't get why everyone raved about the place,” he said. "In the early 1980s, I stopped in to Yeppoon for an overnight stay on my way to Cairns for work and I never left.
"It was the same time of year as my last visit, but the weather was fabulous and I saw what everyone was talking about. The people were lovely, the weather was amazing and the landscape was fabulous - I was hooked.
"I then met and married Lynelle and we have since raised our two sons here. I couldn't imagine being anywhere else.”
Barry began in the real estate industry in 1984 and by 1999 became the principal of his own office.
He is a founding member of Cap Coast Rugby Union and still coaches juniors to this day, while Lynelle has been heavily involved with her son's school P&C, grant writing for community groups and offering her services where needed.
"We are firm supporters of both football and the arts and sponsored many initiatives over the years to give something back to the community that has given us so much,” Barry said.
"We are advocates of buying local and always encourage others to support the local economy.
"Essentially, it is because we are very passionate about our community that we have opted to localise our business.”
From December 1, LJ Hooker in Yeppoon will be known as @The Beach Real Estate.
