New Ford Mustang drives into Rockhampton this week

THE first new Ford Mustang is expected to arrive in Rockhampton this week.

Peter McGregor from Tropical Auto Group said the vehicles would not be in the dealership, but were ordered for each customer.

So far, 20 have been sold to people in Central Queensland.

The first customer set to pick up their new car placed their order roughly 10 months ago and Mr McGregor said they were the first to buy the new model in Rockhampton.

The iconic design isn't lost on the new model, with the 2016 Mustangs retaining their classic American styling.

It's the first time in the 50-year history of Mustang that right-hand-drive vehicles have been made on a US production line.

Previously, those sold in Australia were converted locally.
