New mobile library unit lands at Rockhampton Airport
TRAVELLERS now have one more reason to visit the airport, with the new library unit launched yesterday in Rockhampton.
The library unit will allow Rockhampton Region library members to browse the book collection and make their choice on the spot.
Councillor Rose Swadling confirmed the mobile library unit was the first of its kind to land in Australia.
Cr Swadling said the unit would give travellers the convenience of borrowing a free library book before they departed on a flight.
"We're really encouraging travellers to check it out and join the library if they're not already members, as there's nothing quite like holding a book in your hands and getting lost in a story," she said.
Cr Swadling said she wasn't concerned when it came to the possibility of businesses losing business to the library unit.
"We're talking about a library, we're not talking about a business, and we're talking about meeting the needs of our community members who already go to the library."
