New peak body for Real Estate launched

THE Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA) has opened its doors to franchisors and networks by forming an Affiliates' Council.

REIA CEO, Ms Amanda Lynch was positive about the cooperation involved in creating the council.

"We are thrilled to announce that Professionals, the Estate Agents Cooperative (EAC) and First National have all come on board to benefit from what REIA offers its members," she said.

"REIA's Affiliate members will have alignment with the leading industry association for Australia's real estate profession, benefiting from REIA's advocacy on their behalf and through our strong relationship with national media.

"Another part of the role of the REIA Affiliates' Council is to have REIA Board representation and participation in ongoing discussions and updates on issues and submissions REIA prepares."

First National Real Estate CEO, Ray Ellis supported the REIA's endeavours to deliver an outcome that advances professionalism throughout the industry.

"The opportunity to participate in REIA's Affiliates' Council initiative is welcomed by First National Real Estate, particularly as the industry responds to issues surrounding the introduction of national licensing.

Professionals Real Estate Group is one of the inaugural affiliate member of the Real Estate Institute of Australia.

"Whilst many of Professionals members belong to their appropriate state REIs, it is pleasing to be working with the other affiliates in acting for the greater good of the industry, working at a group level with the Australian representative body on the major things that are impacting our industry, clients and real estate agents at large," said Glyn Morgan, Professionals Real Estate Group CEO.

Ms Lynch and REIA President, Mr Peter Bushby will preside over the Affiliates' Council meeting today with senior representatives of the real estate networks.

The agenda includes the industry's opposition to diluting standards with national licensing, tax reform, a fair and consistent approach to buyers of established dwellings with the first home owner grant and the need for national tenancy laws.
