No loan for Adani: New poll shows voters against funding

MOST Queenslanders believe the state should block any taxpayer-funded loan to Indian mining giant Adani, a new poll suggests.

The Stop Adani Alliance commissioned the ReachTEL poll 10 days before Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said she'd veto any loan to Adani, citing an alleged plan by the LNP to smear her and her partner, who worked on the loan application.

The poll of 1652 voters statewide showed 70 per cent don't want Adani to be loaned taxpayer funds from the federal government's Northern Australian Infrastructure Facility.

The results come as it was revealed Ms Palaszczuk made the decision to veto the $1 billion Adani rail line loan application without legal advice or guidance from the Integrity Commissioner or Cabinet, despite her personal connection to the project.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull yesterday labelled the move an "absolutely disgraceful abdication of responsibility".
