New service station plans for Bruce Highway north of Mackay
Plans have been released for a new 24/7 service station to be built along the Bruce Highway north of Mackay.
The Mobil-branded station features two undercover areas with six fuel bowsers to service cars, large vehicles and trucks travelling through Farleigh.
The 3645sq m site has nine carparking spaces including a spot for a person with disabilities with one entry off Sugarshed Rd and a main entry from 971 Bruce Highway.
$10 million sports precinct upgrades in final stages
“(It) has the capacity to cater for the high capacity freight route and increasing demand and need for an adequate refuelling opportunity for truck drivers within the Farleigh and wider Mackay area,” the proposal submitted to Mackay Regional Council on Wednesday stated.
“In no way is the proposed fuel store component of the development expected to impact upon the primacy or operation of nearby retail centres or food establishments.”
If approved, the existing house, carport, workshop and storage sheds at the location will be demolished.
