Nick Cannon quits gig due to health
NICK Cannon has quit his radio show "under doctor's orders".
The 31-year-old star - who is married to Mariah Carey - went into hospital with blood clots on his lungs last week, and after successive medical issues, including mild kidney failure earlier this year, he has been advised to cut back on his workload, meaning he will no longer present his US drive-time show on 92.3 NOW FM.
He said in a statement released on the radio's website: "Under doctor's orders, I have been asked to put my health first and cut back on some of my professional commitments in order to allow my body to get the rest that it needs to keep up with the demands of my multi-tasking schedule.
"It has been an absolute pleasure working with CBS Radio and 92.3 NOW morning show team and I would like to thank them for their unwavering support."
Nick continued to voice his disappointment on his twitter page claiming it would be a "wrap" if he didn't "slow down".
In a series of tweets, he said: "A bitter sweet morning. I have to stop my radio show. Doctors orders.
"The Doctors found blood clots in my lungs and said if I don't slow down and stop working so hard then it's a wrap! I guess I can't drive at 200 mph for the whole road trip.
"Time to put the car in cruise control. Even Super Man had to sleep!(sic)"
It is expected Nick will continue to present 'America's Got Talent'.
