No one willing to take on Rockhampton boxer Sam Walker

ROCKY boxer Sam Walker's preparations for the Australian Amateur Boxing Titles in Sydney at the end of this month are being hampered by a lack of opponents.

Walker was due to fight last Saturday on the Gold Coast but withdrew when a heavyweight opponent could not be found.

"There are not too many heavyweights around these days," Walker's trainer Des Upton said.

The Gold Coast bout was set to be Walker's second last fight before the national titles.

Walker is hopeful he will fight this Saturday at home in the Rocky PCYC tournament, but Upton is finding it difficult to fill the card.

"I'm struggling to get Sam a bout at our own tournament," Upton said.
