Man charged after girl, 2, allegedly taken from home

A MAN has been charged with taking a girl from her home north of Brisbane, sparking a frantic 36-hour search.

Police allege the 34-year-old North Lakes man took the two-year-old from the Sandstone Point home around 8.30am on Saturday morning after getting into an altercation with a woman known to him.

The girl was found safe and well on Sunday night.

The man has been charged with 10 offences including three counts of breach of a domestic violence order, two counts of common assault and one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, break and enter, stealing and wilful damage.

He is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
