Not all large dogs deserve the blame for attacks
LETTER OF THE DAY: I have two large dogs and know several people with the same breed. We are fed up with the abuse, the ignorance and lack of education regarding our breed.
Too many people assume our dogs are vicious or savage - they are so far from that.
They are high on the list of the most gentle dogs in the world. All research says if you want a guard dog, never get one like ours - they will lick and want to play with a total stranger anywhere, even in our homes.
With our breed it is always the small yapping dog that goes for the heels of our dogs and then we get into trouble when our dogs warn off the yapper.
Small dogs people assume their dog wouldn't hurt anyone. They turn a blind eye and blame, blame, blame the big dogs.
We are absolutely fed up with this.
One man at Currimundi off-leash beach slammed a plastic ball thrower in the eye of one of mine when she was seven months old. I went to the police but the copper would not even speak to me and I had two witnesses.
That violent man who owns a vicious staffy was allowed to walk free.
The Sunshine Coast Council did nothing. All their rules are very biased and I hope that this mayor does not get in again as he has turned the dog laws into a huge mess.
