Fight after NRL Grand Final lands man in Rockhampton court
TEMPERS got heated during the NRL grand final at one Kawana residence, with Gerald Anthony Canham ending up in a fight.
The 31-year-old was intoxicated when police arrived at the disturbance at 10.30pm on October 4.
Rockhampton Magistrates Court heard yesterday that Canham had fought another man at a private residence, but the fight spilled onto the street.
Canham had a facial injury but refused to be treated by paramedics.
The court heard police told Canham to go home and they would contact him later. At the time police could not understand him due to intoxication.
The court heard Canham started the fight about the game between the Cowboys and Broncos.
Canham was charged with public nuisance and was fined $1200, with a conviction recorded.
Magistrate Cameron Press told Canham that this public nuisance was unwarranted and fuelled by alcohol.
