Dairy farmers Toad and Mandy win House Rules

THEY are the humble dairy farmers Australia fell in love with and now, they are $355,000 richer.

Toad Heffernan and Mandy Stone took out the House Rules grand finale tonight - beating Queensland pair Mel and Dave by just one point.

But despite the new-found popularity, the pair insists they'll never give up on the farm.

"(Farming is) what we do, that's what put us the position to have a go at this show … that's where me heart is," Heffernan said.

"We just really want to pay our car off and set Amanda up with a salon and maybe just sit on it for a while."

Stone is looking to set up her own day spa while Heffernan is open to opportunities in promoting mental health.

"We've got a lot of farmers who were tuning in while they are feeding their stock and struggling and they are still sending us support messages," he said.

"It's bloody good to hear from people who are struggling and doing it tough but still back another farmer."

The fan-favourites said they never thought they would be crowned winners of the popular reality show.

"I thought "God we are nowhere near these people" and it wasn't until the first couple of reveals that we realised that maybe we were all right," Stone said.

"Australia loves you because you're real I think … we're not used to the big smokes stuff. We are who we are and we are proud," Heffernan said.

The couple are delighted with how their country home turned out.

"The way it's been done is unreal … it's actually a home now … the rain doesn't come through the roof anymore," Heffernan said.

This season of House Rules has been a hit with audiences, with 1.32 million viewers on average. The show beat rival reality shows Nine's Ninja Warrior and Ten's MasterChef.

House Rules will be back for its seventh season next year.
