Parliament makes McGuire's 'boofhead' status official
COLLINGWOOD president Eddie McGuire was labelled a "boofhead" on Wednesday in the New South Wales Parliament following his criticism of Aboriginal player Adam Goodes.
Following the Sydney Swan's "war dance" after kicking a goal against Carlton last Friday night, McGuire labelled the celebration "violent" and "aggressive".
"This is a made-up dance - this is not something that has been going on for years," he said.
Goodes said he picked up the dance from a junior indigenous AFL team.
Greens MP Jeremy Buckingham moved a motion in the NSW Legislative Council supporting the Sydney Swans star and condemning McGuire for "being a continual boofhead".
He thanked the upper house for passing the motion, saying he was a Collingwood fan and "embarrassed by Eddie McGuire's blunders and racial gaffes".
Two years ago McGuire apologised to Goodes after joking that the Swan could be used to promote a musical version of King Kong.
