University to offer 'people risk' resources to oil industry

OIL and gas companies will better understand how to find workers, deal with skill shortages and keep staff loyal thanks to a new project being spearheaded by a Brisbane university.

Queensland University of Technology's business school is developing research that will help major resource companies analyse "people risk" - or risks to their workforces.

It is being funded by energy industry recruiter Air Energi and the Australian Government.

QUT lecturer Dr Karen Becker said it was the first time the industry had access to such information.

Air Energi LNG development director Matt Smith said tools like this would be critical for projects in Australasia.
