Boxer to contest claims he assaulted elderly man

OLYMPIC boxer Damien Hooper has fronted court on charges of serious assault of a person over the age of 60.

The 21-year-old also faced charges of public nuisance and assaulting or obstructing police when he appeared in Toowoomba Magistrates Court this morning.

Defence lawyer Dan Habermann said his client would be contesting the serious assault charge.

The three matters were adjourned to be heard in the same court of March 17.
