Second man dies after tragic weekend on Ipswich roads

UPDATE 10AM: A Springbrook man has died following a motorcycle crash near Boonah yesterday morning.

Just after 11am, police were advised that the 70-year-old had come off his bike and was lying injured on the side of Ipswich-Boonah Road, just outside of Boonah.

It appears the man had been riding into Boonah.

The man was airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition, however was pronounced deceased this morning.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

Identity of Laidley motorcycle rider revealed

UPDATE 9AM: The Laidley man who died in a motorcycle accident on Sunday was 59-year-old Garry Stirling.

He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident when his motorbike crashed into a tree on Ipswich-Boonah Rd near the intersection of Limestone Ridges Rd about 1.18pm yesterday.

 

One dead, one fighting for life after separate bike crashes

EARLIER: A Laidley man is dead and a man from Springbrook is fighting for his life after two separate motorcycle crashes on Ipswich roads on Sunday.

The fatal accident occurred on Ipswich-Boonah Rd near the intersection of Limestone Ridges Rd at Peak Crossing at about 1.18pm.

The man, believed to be in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene after he his bike reportedly hit a tree.

The second crash occurred on the Ipswich Boonah Rd at Coulson, about 5km north of Boonah at 11am.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said paramedics found the rider, believed to be in his 70s, unconscious on the side of the road.

He was later airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with life-threatening injuries and is currently on life support. 

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
