One dead, one missing in flood

TORRENTIAL overnight rain in the Fraser Coast has claimed the life of at least one man and fears are held for the safety of one other.

It's understood police discovered a man's body in a submerged 4WD at Glenwood.

Another man who was travelling in the 4WD with the deceased is still unaccounted for.

A second car was also swept off Arborten Road, Glenwood into trees and there were concerns for its driver, but it has since been found the car was unoccupied when it was swept off the road.

Graham Harvey, owner of the Theebine Hotel west of Glenwood, told AAP water had already risen half a metre above a causeway near his pub.

He said four-wheel-drives were still travelling through the flooded area, but residents were starting to worry about what would happen if the rain did not subside.

Police pleaded with motorists and members of the public to not enter flood waters, flooded roads or watercourses and to limit non essential travel.
