Online poll puts Ludwig ahead
THERE'S 10 to pick from, but it seems Rockhampton councillor Bill Ludwig is winning the race by a head.
No, it's not horse racing.
It's an online poll created by The Morning Bulletin to see who Rockhampton region residents believe has done the best job on Rockhampton Regional Council since the amalgamation elections in April 2008.
Cr Ludwig, as of yesterday afternoon, was beating Mayor Brad Carter by seven votes.
By 4pm, more than 370 votes have been cast online, with Cr Ludwig receiving 98 votes (26%) compared to Cr Carter's 91 votes (24%) and Cr Glenda Mather's 63 votes.
In an interesting development, 14 comments have been added to a story about would-be-mayor Dominic Doblo's claim that it was time for people to "put up or shut up", including Mr Doblo himself.
"When making the comment that people should '...put up or shut up', my point was that people who feel passionate about decisions that affect our local region should seriously consider getting involved in council.
"The comment also applies to existing councillors who prefer to use political grandstanding to raise their public profile instead of working together as a team to achieve the best possible outcomes," Mr Doblo commented.
