Open Day demonstrate services for people with a disability

THE Endeavour Foundation's Rockhampton Learning & Lifestyle is hosting an Open Day for local families at its Yaamba Road premises today.

The service uses a person-centred support model to enhance the independence, confidence, self-esteem, interaction skills and life choices of people with a disability. Rockhampton L&L provides centre-based support where people can access a range of learning programs, as well as recreational and social activities.

Support Operations Manager Mark Muldoon said the Open Day is aimed at demonstrating the services available to people with a disability.

"Our Learning & Lifestyle offers person-centred support - which means we engage with service users to identify their needs and goals and adapt our programs and supports to address those needs and goals," he said.

"As well as offering literacy and learning programs, we support people with a disability to build relationships and become active participants in the local community.

"I'd really encourage people to come along to our Open Day to find out more about the opportunities our Learning and Lifestyle programs can provide for people with a disability."

Staff will be on hand to provide information about L&L and Endeavour Foundation's full range of services - and guests will also be welcome to join in the activities and programs on the day.

"We'll also have lots of visual displays for guests, with PowerPoint presentations and photos on show," said Mr Muldoon.
