BINIL Kattiparambil was overjoyed to see more than 150 people take part in Rockhampton's Mosque Open Day yesterday.

Binil, the Secretary of the Islamic Society said he had never seen the mosque so full.

Binil said the open day was to encourage people of all cultures to come and find out more information on the Muslim faith.

"There are a lot of misconceptions (about our religion)… and many people come here out of curiosity" Binil said.

He said those who come to a Mosque Open day often learn about the religion, and take part in many activities on the day, including a Q&A session.

The Mosque Open Day was held at the Rockhampton Mosque on Kent St on Saturday. 

Binil said they have held four Mosque Open Days in the past year and a half.
