OPINION: 'Well done Gabriele, you are on a winner'

WE love a great success story and Rockhampton's Gabriele Demedio's achievements warrant recognition.

This hard-working man has been quietly expanding his Casa Nostra Motel enterprise at Parkhurst and has big plans to extend his upmarket accommodation offering across the large block of bushland on Yaamba Rd.

Just like the Rockhampton pioneers 150 years before him, he has managed to forge an impressive business enterprise out of raw scrub.

He has developed a formula for success with his style of accommodation, winning Australia's Best Independent Rated Accommodation Voted by Australian Travellers for the second year in a row, to earn a place on the 2017 Gold List of Australian Accommodation.

Now he is about to open a restaurant and then build "a heap'' more accommodation units over the next year.

His expansion timing looks good too with the city a favourite to become a FIFO hub for the giant Adani mine near Clermont.

Rockhampton is quickly building a strong reputation for quality accommodation offerings with the Empire being recognised for its high standards in recent weeks.

The string of high rise unit blocks on Victoria Parade has lifted the profile of the city for those visitors seeking CBD locations while motel owners like Mr Demedio are providing top quality rooms for those looking for the options on the city's outskirts.

He also reports good numbers of overseas tourists visiting our area which is also heartening as we look to grow this business sector.

Well done Gabriele, you are on a winner.
